The Saint Andrew's Society of Tidewater is organized to provide assistance to those of Scottish heritage in the community; to encourage and promote the study of the history, traditions and culture of Scotland, and of the influence of immigrant Scots in the development of the United States; to promote, foster, undertake and encourage research, education, and the dissemination of information concerning the history of Scots and their tradition and culture; to perpetuate Scottish traditions and culture, and to promote activities among its members.
The Society holds a monthly dinner meeting on the first Monday of each month. Anyone interested in Scottish culture and history is invited to attend. The Society participates in Scottish community activities throughout the year, and hosts a Burns Nicht Supper each January.
Members of the Society are drawn from those who are over 21 years of age, were born in Scotland or who are of Scottish lineage, without regard to sex.
