Society Awards
At their regular meeting held on 19 September 2006, the Executive Council of the Saint Andrews Society of Tidewater
adopted a formal Awards Program to be used to recognize exceptional and outstanding performance and contributions to
the Society in several areas. The following is a brief description of the program complete with nomination forms and
instructions;
|
The Outstanding Performance Award
This award is an engraved plaque representing the highest honor that may be bestowed upon a member of the Society.
Given for long and exceptional service, contributions, and dedication. The service and contributions must be of the
highest caliber and have wide ranging impact throughout the Society. This award must be approved by a majority of
the Executive Council.
|
The Special Achievement Award
This is the Society's second highest award and is presented to both Society Members and Non-Members (including groups)
for exceptional specific contributions and/or services to the Society that are outstanding in nature and generally
benefit the overall Society organization and/or its Members. This award consists of a framed Certificate citing the
recipient(s) for their performance. A majority vote of the Executive Council is required for this award.
|
The President's Award
This Award is the Society's third highest award, is given at the discretion of the sitting Society President, and
may be given to either Society Members or Non-Members who are deserving. This award is given for any act, service,
or contribution that is deserving of an accolade, yet falls short of those criteria for the Outstanding Performance
Award or the Special Achievement Award or when these higher awards are inappropriate. This award consists of a
framed Certificate citing the recipient(s) for their performance. No Executive Council approval is required for
this award.

The "Scot of the Year" Award
This annual award is given to an individual (not necessarily a Member of the Society) whose contributions to the
local, national, and/or international Scottish Community are considered by the Executive Council as outstanding,
exceptional, and highly notable. Nominations for this award are due in mid November each year and the Award is
scheduled for presentation at the Annual Burns Nicht Supper sponsored by the Society in January of each year. The
Scot of the Year Award is an engraved plaque.
