Tartan Day is a day the United States Congress has declared as a day to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Scottish Americans. April 6th was chosen to commemorate the day in 1320 when the Scottish Declaration of Arbroath was written and signed. Its philosophy and wording inspired the writing of our Declaration of Independence four and a half centuries later.
